Twenty-Seven - Foreign Correspondence


                        

     Monty, sitting on the sofa there, is a member of the Gadsden City Council. That means that he's been elected by the citizens in a certain area of the city to represent them. That's how things work in our own world, too, I'm led to understand.

     In this talking animal world, however, there's a second body of officials in major cities, the Familial House of Representatives, more commonly known as "the Familial." Each family of folks in the city--and by that I mean actual, biological groups like feline, canine, murine, and the like--holds their own elections, and their representatives get together to discuss, debate, and send policies to the City Council.

     It's a bicameral thing. As opposed to some sort of dromedary, I guess...
