Dad and I tried to get Monte Cristo sandwiches Wednesday night as my two-months-delayed birthday celebration, but the only place in town that sells them is still keeping their winter hours: open Thursday through Sunday. So we went up the hill to the restaurant that is always our second-choice since they have the tower of onion rings on the menu, and not only had the restaurant closed, it had been completely absorbed by the movie theaters next door to create their new, giant-size lobby.
So we went 'round the corner to the Cheesecake Factory, and their tower of onion rings proved to be small but tasty.
