I've never much cared for stories where the Devil's a character. I mean, you take the whole "banality of evil" thing, crank it up to 11, and that's the guy: whiny, shiftless, cloying, and always absolutely convincing in his lies. Who'd wanna write or read about that?
So of course Scratch has been a character here since the very beginning, an absolutely vital part of Tharka's backstory and all. 'Cause if I only told the sortsa stories I liked, where'd be the fun in that?
