Just to see what real artists could do with my characters. These are from 2008 while the 4th Anniversary Portraits are from 2009.
I don't remember how I first stumbled over Mary Minch's Mice Comics, but it was back in the days when she was actually putting comics on her website there. I enjoyed them, bought the print editions when she put them out--anything that deals with killer eggplants gets an automatic "OK" in my book--and when I decided to do this portrait thing, her name was first on my list.
So let's start with Doc, looking grumpy at being interrupted while mixing up the prescription for Jolene's pills in the back room there at Daily Grind.
I was actually awarded "a million points" by Ms. Minch when, in describing Mrs. Teasdale, I compared her to the actress Margaret Dumont. I had thought from the name the connection would be obvious, but Ms. Minch informed me that there are many poor souls out there who are unfamiliar with Marx Brothers' films in general and Duck Soup in particular...
But here we see Mrs. Teasdale winging over the roofs of Gadsden.
Mr. Tharka is, of course, armed and looking to demonstrate that fact to someone. It's what he does, after all.
Jolene poses coquettishly atop one of Gadsden many apartment buildings. Though I'm pretty sure she'll get a bit grumpier once she discovers what "coquettishly" means...
And finally we see Howlett with the Box behind him in the office at Daily Grind HQ.
This was fun: I'll hafta do it again next year! For now, though, here's a link back to the Main Page and another over to the Art from Other Folks page.
