Just to see what real artists could do with my characters. These are from 2009 while the 3rd Anniversary Portraits are from 2008.
JBIII was a fellow contestant in the Daily Grind Challenge with me. His Say Uncle Comics were always little slices of pure retro comic grandness, and he just keeps getting better as time goes on.
I've always said that my Daily Grind stories are largely inspired by the radio serials of the 1930s and 40s. Well, if there'd actually been a Daily Grind radio show back then, the portraits here are what the characters would've looked like in the 1950s T.V. series based on it.
The theme music, by the would've been something heavy on the brass along the lines of the "Peter Gunn Theme" or "Frankie Machine," the main title music from the film The Man With the Golden Arm or even the music from Courageous Cat and Minute Mouse. Or have I been giving this too much thought?
Anyway, here's the pictures.
More next year? Only time will tell! For now, though, here's a link back to the Main Page and another over to the Art from Other Folks page.
